Feeling Machines

Feeling Machines is a trio of permanent sculptures commissioned for Bowden Main Park, Adelaide.

Photography: Bruce Esplin

Drawn from the Supermodel (2014) series of plastic assemblages, Feeling Machines was designed to evoke a sense of fun, nostalgia and intrigue. The three sculptures represent fictional machinery, each suggesting an imaginary function. The simple, bold forms have a strong impact situated along the curved integrated pedestrian link and, even though spaced apart, clearly connect to one another. ‘Undercurrent’ was the title of the commission brief, encouraging reference to the industrial past of the former Clipsal and Origin Gasworks site.

Painted steel and aluminium, heights range from 210cm to 230cm.
