Breitengraser – room for contemporary sculpture, Berlin

foam-born was an attempt to make a figurative sculpture from honey-comb paper, the inspiration coming from a beach towel featuring an image of a naked woman resembling Botticelli’s Venus.

The snake honey-comb paper sculpture was drawn from a small clay sculpture purchased from and old persons’ hospice. The original snake object itself was also in the exhibition, and a black clay ‘stupa’ was created for it to perch on.

The small back gallery showcased a series of paintings entitled Gummi Girls, which were stylised silhouettes of found images of women painted onto a dense foam material.

foam-born was reviewed in the Berliner Zeitung.
